In the north of Brazil, 3h30 from Sao Luis, the Lençois Maranhenses park is renowned as one of the most magical places on the planet.

A desert of sometimes golden, sometimes ivory-white sand, shaped by dunes up to 40 metres high. This drape, reminiscent of an undulating fabric, has given it the name Lençóis
Maranhenses (the sheets of Maranhão). Every year, seasonal rains create crystal-clear lagoons in the hollows of the dunes. This constellation of turquoise, emerald and aquamarine lakes, a natural phenomenon unique in the world, appears from June to December, then evaporates in the heat, disappearing slowly until the following year.

The climate is equatorial, hot and dry, with wind all year round.
